Day 415

We're headed out, this morning on the second leg of our journey. We spent the night with my oldest life-long friend, Laura and her hubby, Dan. We had some good fun...and food!!!

We got to meet Baby Gabe for the first time...He's even sweeter in person....

Uncle Ben and Auntie B missed their little Madalyn!

I don't think I've processed what's about to happen to us....everything seems surreal...I'm really glad we were able to spend the night surrounded by familiar faces and loving embraces.

Okay, that's it for now....Another 8 hours in the car, here we come!!!

  1. Great pics of you all having fun with your friends and children! I've been where you are right now--23 months ago. It is all VERY surreal, and almost unbelievable. To think that you are going to hold your sweet, baby boy in just a few days--something that you've been praying about for so long. Your arms long to wrap around your child and your heart seems to beat so fast. You can actually hear and feel your heart racing when you are still and quiet, and you think others have to be able to hear it too.

Kara was born in Oklahoma, and we live in the panhandle of WV. We chose to fly out of the DC area and rented a car in Tulsa. ICPC took 12 days for us. We stayed in a hotel suite with a full kitchen, and enjoyed the time getting to know all we possibly could of our little girl. We had a pretty open adoption too. After we were discharged from the hospital (2 days after Kara's birth), we went over to Kara's birth-grandparent's house for a cookout. There were approximately 15 members of her birth family present, including the birth mother. We took pictures and had a great time! We still have a good relationship with the birth-grandmother, and birth Aunt, but unfortunately, the birth mother has pulled away from us. We continually thank her and God in our prayers for allowing us to be the parents to our beautiful, sweet Kara.

I will be praying for your journey, and anxiously awaiting your updates.

  11. Just think this will be the last quiet car ride you'll have for a few years! You may be enjoying YOUR music now but I believe there are sounds of a crying baby in your future ;). Which to some (like us) can be sweet sweet music to the ear! Praying for you all! Can't wait to see pictures of your Thanksgiving FEAST!

  15. Loved, LOVED having you and felt so honored to be a stop along your journey. I can't believe YOUR DAY is almost here. I wish, more than my crying daughter, that I could have rode along with you, but please know that my heart has gone along with you and I am praying for you every step of the way. Every time I nurse Gabe, I will talk to God on your behalf.

Gabe is so excited for his playdate on your way back through...he needs some social interaction with someone his own age :)

    Love you muches...L.

  17. My experience was a bit different in many ways than yours, but I do remember that the actual journey in the car felt SO SO SO surreal. The entire time we were out of town felt like a complete DREAM. I still feel like everything was so surreal then!

I love following your journey and I am sending every positive thought that I have to all of you!!
