I'll just post little updates as I receive them from Rebekah here...
12:36 PM text message:
"We are on the way to hospital now. They just broke her water. I feel like I'm living in a haze. SO TIRED."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3:15 PM I spoke to Rebekah on the phone; here is the latest:
They arrived at the beautiful, brand new hospital where Rebekah is delivering, walked in the door to her room, and Rebekah/Birth Mom immediately began to cry out of relief and happiness. The room is filled with Rebekah's mom, Grandma, sister...so many family members who have all embraced Ben and Rebekah and accepted them lovingly. Bek told me everyone was crying and showering them with hugs.
Ben and Rebekah have settled in and told everyone the tale of their long road trip, gave Rebekah her gifts to open, and are now just playing the waiting game. Rebekah is only dilated to 2 cm; they have broken her water and started an epidural. Her blood pressure has continued to remain elevated, which is somewhat of a concern. Pray that her BP stabilizes and the pitocin does it's job quickly!
One of the most amazing parts of the day for Rebekah has been the way Rebekah/Birth Mom has directed all questions/information about care of the new baby to her and Ben. Whenever the nurses come in with questions or packets of paperwork for baby, Rebekah immediately asks that the nurse address Ben and Bek instead of herself. She wants Ben to cut the cord when the time comes as well. They feel so blessed by this.
In other news, once they woke up and actually saw their cottage, they fell in love with it! Apparently it is homey and sweet; Rebekah said it will be a perfect spot for their new little family to bond.
Alright, that's it for now! I'll post again as soon as I hear more...

ReplyDeleteVery exciting! Can't wait for them to meet their new addition. Congrats! And thanks for the updates!
ReplyDeleteOh I can hardly wait. I am in tears of joy for this little baby to arrive. I hope the next hours go by smoothly and relaxing. I know R (birthmom) probably wont feel that way but I do hope that the day goes by without too much excitement. God Bless you all so much.
ReplyDeleteLaura, again, thanks for the updates.
When they broke my water with oldest (now 14 yrs old), it still took quite awhile for her to come into the world. She was stubborn little thing even back then. Samantha was also what they call 'sunny side up', which caused a ton of painful back labor. Fun, fun.
ReplyDeleteWe're flying home from FL today, and I'll be anxious to hear how everyone is doing once baby boy arrives. We were able to hold our Kara just 30 mins after she was born. The birth mother had her sister in the delivery room. It was a wonderous occasion, and brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it now. You guys have experienced some of the exhaustion of parenthood even before baby boy arrived, considering you were on the road for 18 hrs without much sleep. The next several weeks will be exhausting as well, but oh so worth it. :-) Just try to sleep when the baby sleeps, especially while your waiting for ICPC approval.
He will be here soon!!! WAHOOO
ReplyDeleteGod is so good!!!
Holy Moly! Can't wait for the next update! Praying for you all!
ReplyDeleteI'm taking my phone everywhere. Can't wait to hear the good news. Glad you got there safely. Love you lots.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear more!!! =)
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm thinking baby boy may already be here and everybody is just reveling in it all. ;) She's been in labor for awhile now.... and she already has had previous babies. I'm just so excited and cannot WAIT to hear all about it! I'm keeping everybody in my prayers! I can't stop refreshing. hehe
ReplyDeleteHi Rebekah!!! Just started following your blog and let me tell you..it's been a blessing to read about the wonderful things the Lord has done and is doing in your lives! How exciting!!!! You'll have your baby boy so soon! We've been struggling with infertility for 3 yrs now and have considered adoption. Since we are looking to move soon, we've kinda put it on hold but I def. want to continue to pray for bilogical children as well as adopt! I've never met someone personally who has gone through an open adoption so I am so happy to have come accross your blog and "meet" you! That little boy will have a blessed life with you two and a very loving mommy and daddy! Enjoy every minute of it!!!! God bless you guys!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Susan

ReplyDeleteI am SO excited for all of you! Im at work and when I read your latest entry about when you first got to the hospital I almost started crying. Rebekah(birth mom) is amazing and you are lucky to have found each other. GOD is SO good... All the struggles and heartache that brought you to this place, will be worth it when you get to hold your little boy in your arms for the first time. And although they will never be forgotten, your struggles will make you stronger. The thought I just got for you Rebekah was that, God has been preparing you for this time and your rewards will be many. I cant wait to hear the name you picked out!!
ReplyDeleteLiterally tearing up right now at the selflessness of birth mom Rebekah. She is truly giving you the experience you have been waiting for. I'm so happy for you all. On pins and needles here.
