Friday was my last day at work. I cried the whole way home. It's not that I love work so much that I couldn't leave...I just can't believe this is finally happening.
Today, we did a trial run for packing the car; I was a flood of emotions. I can't believe this is finally happening...
We leave bright and early tomorrow morning! Can you believe it???? It was a very busy day of last minute errands. But, I did manage to sneak a pedicure in!
Ben was in charge of installing the carseat (with some help from his best buddy).
Do you know what it's like for a woman with an empty womb to see a carseat installed in the backseat of her car? There aren't words. Even now I choke back sobs. I can't believe this is finally happening...
We are very sleepy after a long day of cleaning, planning, and packing. But TOMORROW IS THE DAY! Tomorrow, officially begins the journey of our LIFE.
I promise to keep you updated, as we go! We will be driving 5 hours tomorrow to spend the night with my BFF, who not only moved recently, but also had a baby boy a few days ago! We'll have 9 hours in the car on Monday and 9 hours on Tuesday. If everything goes according to plan we'll arrive in Rebekah's hometown Tuesday night. I hear we have a mountain of paperwork to fill out on Wednesday. We'll also take some time to get settled in our cottage and take Rebekah and her sister to dinner.
Birth day we'll start very early on Thursday morning (6 am!!)
Every location we'll be at has wireless internet, so my laptop will be within reach! Please keep us in your prayers. We still do not have signed TPR paperwork from the birth father.
For now...this is goodbye! The best part of the story to come...

I have been reading your story but have not posted. just wanted to take this minute to say good luck and I will say a pray that everything goes smooth.
ReplyDeleteUntil two months ago I thought I'd be able to have children, but a large fibroid put a life-sized damper on the likelihood of having my own child. Your has helped me to see "the other side" of things and understand them more - the other side I never thought I'd be experiencing right now. Thank you for opening up your heart and allowing the blog world in - it's helping me more than I ever thought possible and it gives me hope for the future.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and prayers for a safe journey to Rebekah and baby boy.

It's so cool that Day 413 is on the 13th of June. I have been thinking about you today. My oldest miracle boy Silas turned 7 today. He was born 7 years to the day that we had accepted Christ as our personal Savior. We had his birthmom Rebekah (and her 2 younger children 2 1/2 and 1 month old and Rebekah's dad over today for a quiet lunch. We haven't seen them for 6 months so we got to see the new baby today. You are in for a VERY rewarding life experience, take time to reflect on it all and enjoy the ride!!! Love and Prayers, Sonya in NC

and from me to you...one mama heart to another mama heart...treasure each moment!!! Open your heart!
just do what comes naturally...love you xx
Wow, I almost can't believe it's happening either! How wonderful you've had time to prepare and plan - in the same way that many couples who are giving birth get to do. It's all leading up to one day - one moment - and we're all waiting anxiously to see it captured in photos! Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteGiantspeedbump
P.S. As a fellow "empty-womber", I LOVE seeing that carseat getting strapped into your car!!!!
Enjoy the roller coaster of emotions over the last few days you will spend as a family of two.
ReplyDeleteYour heart will be so full of happiness and song, when you are nestled in the back seat next to your baby boy, on your drive back home as a family of three!
So excited for you. Soon you will be a new Mommy and Daddy.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that you could go to firestations and police stations and some car dealerships and they will check the installation of your car seat to make sure it is in the car properly. They will also tell you what the best place would be for the car seat. I thought the best place was behind the passenger seat. Good luck on your journey.
ReplyDeleteThinking and praying and hoping for you. Such a miracle -- God Bless you!
ReplyDeletekeeping you in heart, thoughts and prayers for a safe trip and an unbelievable journey in the days ahead!
ReplyDeletekimberly

Hey, I just found your blog about a week ago, and have been getting caught up on your story. I'm a (new) birthmom in an open adoption, and I've really appreciated reading it! I'm so excited for y'all over the next few days, and will be praying for all of you :) God is definitely good, and he shows that so plainly in so many of the amazing adoption stories I've gotten to read recently. I look forward to "watching" things unfold in the coming days!
ReplyDeleteI SO get how you are feeling in this post! I have had so many "I can't believe this is finally happening" moments since Charlie, it's unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteYou are all in my prayers big time right now...I cannot wait for those updates, and to find out how things are going. Just remember to breathe...and to cry when you need to cry! There will be so many unimaginable moments unfolding before you, I feel so blessed to be along for the ride!!!
Lots of love,
Melba

ReplyDeleteI can't believe it! I have so enjoyed keeping up with you and birthmom Rebekah over these months as we all wait for the big day!
You got me on the car seat in the car of a woman with an empty womb...and here I thought I wouldn't be crying until Thursday. Good grief.
SO so happy for you and Ben and R's family too as you all welcome this little gift into the world!
Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. I can't wait to hear from you after you get there!

Just wondering if you would be willing to share a list of some things you took on your trip? I am hoping for a baby through adoption and have a possibility out of state. You look really prepared! Any tips would be appreciated, things you didn't have that you wish you did, . . . etc. Thanks! rebeccalyn82@gmail.com
