Isn't Ty's great grandpa, Ty, the cutest old man you ever did see? I cracked right up when he came to the door in a "Ty" hat - his golf buddies made it for him.
It was such a special moment to see Grandpa hold his first great grandson...let alone one named after him. Grandpa was very emotional when we called him with the news. He actually dropped the phone and Ben was fearful we'd given him a heart attack! He told us, this week, that he was just so honored.
It was neat to be able to tell Grandpa why we named our son after him. Grandpa Tyrus has had an incredible life legacy. His successes are monumental (founded his own company, invented his own products, several patents, honorary doctorate, etc, etc), let alone his heart for his family...especially the grandkids. He is an incredible man. If our Tyrus can accomplish half of what his great grandpa Tyrus did, we will know we've done our job well.
We hope our Tyrus will have several more years getting to know his very special namesake...great grandpa, Ty.

ReplyDeleteI am crying, you really have such a way of doing that to me LOL
I lost my gram last week and my greatest regret is that she never got to see my child
Although I have faith that she is up there all week having a talk with God about getting the baby here soon
God Bless you, you inspire me to fight the fight because in the end, I know the prize is so worth it by seeing you and Ben and TY

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet sweet man. And what a blessing to have this photo. Although I have to admit when I first looked I kept asking myself why Grandpa had a Thank You (TY) hat on. I get so used to internet and text lingo that I saw it to read that. Quickly I notited what it obviously was but it made me smile. Every day, even with his name.....he is full of thanks.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great picture of the two Tyruses! I love it. He sounds like a great man, and he's certainly a wonderful role model for your son.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny b/c I'm named after both of my grandmothers and I never thought about until this post how they must have felt knowing I was named after them. Something neat to think about after nearly 27 years (eek!)
