I have been trying to take as much video as possible...I know I'll never have these moments again....
Never mind the dishwasher in the background, my chopped off head, and the delay at the end...we didn't have daddy around to help us!
He finally decided to enjoy his bath (today, as a matter of fact!)And he found his fingers. He prefers two at a time.He quickly figured out that being held is way better.Being wrapped counts as being held and it's the only way mommy gets anything done! (I'm sorry I don't know the name of the wrap, many of you have asked. My sister used it with Nya and passed it on....)Ty enjoys a little cow time everyday. And he's lifting his head all on his own. [Isn't he too cute????]
And cooing with smiles...contrary to what Daddy believes! His eyes are as blue as the midnight sky and they speak of God's goodness.
We love him with every fabric of who we are and can't wait to see what month 2 holds. Happy first month, Ty!
The wrap is called "The Ultimate Baby Wrap." Its kind of like the Moby wrap, but way less material and I love the ring on the side, plus its cheaper!
ReplyDeleteRebekah,
ReplyDeleteIt just blesses my heart to see you sitting there holding your son. All the heartache and pain you've been through now is in the past with little Ty around. Don't let anyone tell you that you hold baby Ty too much!!! Cherish these moments that God has given you and smile when you get these comments, knowing that those of us who've been down the road of IF and not able to conceive understand. How can you not love that little man?
adorable
ReplyDeleteOh I love that little man! He is so yummy! Thanks for the post and pictures, he's getting so squishy too. Awe! Cute little man.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome!
ReplyDeleteMy wrap, which looks similar, is called a Maya wrap.
Enjoy your time with your little one!
Rebekah, I read your entire blog today and am thrilled for you and Ben. Ty is definitely a cutie. Loved the video!
ReplyDeleteDenise
wow! can you believe it? one month! you and ty look so awesome all wrapped up together!!!
ReplyDeletethat was so fun to see and look at back at Grayden's first month blog post and remember the things he did!
ReplyDeleteapperently I hold Grayden too much too, but even if it were possible to spoil a baby I dont care! I'm gonna do it anyway!
he is so cute! i love the grunts :)
So happy for you and Ben and Baby Ty! You are the most precious mommy in the world! Ty is the luckiest little miracle! Love to you...
ReplyDeleteJulie
CONGRATULATIONS! HAPPY 1 MONTH!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful video!!!! Thank you for sharing and thanks Desha for the name of the wrap I totally want one :)
ReplyDeleteHe is sooo beautiful, and growing oh so fast! I am with you, and have held Charlie to my heart's content, regardless of that lovely advice you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteMotherhood truly looks beautiful on you, I love you holding him and feeding him while you talk to the camera, it's almost as if I'm there in the room with you. :)
Love,
Melba
I was told that you can't spoil a newborn so hold that baby all you want and enjoy every second!! I love reading...thank you for allowing us to follow you.
ReplyDeleteYou look so natural mothering him. You are both beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLike I told you, I dont regret on bit holding Chelsea ALL the time, thats what she wanted and that is what she needed, and I have wonderful memories because of it. I loved the video, it made me cry because I felt like I was with you again. Thanks Rebekah.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Rebekah
Phooey on spoiling him! Holding him will do no such thing. You hold him all you want to, Momma! These baby moments fly by so fast.
ReplyDeleteLoved the video (so did my 2 and 4 year olds!).
And he definitely is long and chunky. I could tell in the video that he's already gotten a lot bigger! Yay for chunk!
I love that you are making videos for Ty (and for you bloggy friends!) :) He is beautiful. You and Ben are truly blessed.
ReplyDeleteLong time listener, first time caller... I just had to come out of hiding to tell you that you have got to be the cutest new mommy ever! You look so right holding the little guy. Baby Ty is very blessed to have you two chosen as his parents!
ReplyDeleteHappy 1 month Ty! You get cuter with every picture mommy posts (if that's even possible)!
ReplyDeleteWhat a big strong boy! He's so cute. Happy 1 month Ty!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the video!!! I hope you do that every month! How sweet! And the black and white stuff is oh so cute. He is just going to be a stud, isn't he!!!
ReplyDeleteHold him all you want!!!!! I waited 7 1/2 yrs for my son and never wanted to put him down!! Especially adopted babies, they haven't been with us for the first 9 months, they have a new mother to learn and bond to!
ReplyDeleteNow, my son is 9, and I have to beg for hugs! ;(
Babies can not get too much love!!
Love the video...where does time go...can't believe he is a month old already.
ReplyDeleteSo SWEET!!! And, don't worry about spoiling him ... you are safe until about 6 months or so before they start figuring out how to get their way!
ReplyDeleteHe is simply stunning and I KNOW what you mean about all of those people who didn't have to wait all of those years to get a baby!
Oh, my my. I can't believe he's 4 weeks old already. You are such a god mom already, you look so comfortable.
ReplyDeletePeople who tell you not to hold him are nuts. You can not spoil an infant. Hold that baby all you want. And the adoption books I read say "Don't put him down for a month."
Your voice is so cute!
Kiss that baby for me!
I just love Rebekah's comment. You two are the Goal of open adoption.
ReplyDeleteI worried that I was spoiling my child until my Aunt pointed out that things only spoil from neglect, not love. (Although I think she was thinking about apples!)
ReplyDeleteHe is gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe wrap is by PARENTS OF INVENTION, called the "Ultimate Baby Wrap- in Heather Gray" Just a warning to buy the gray one and not the UBW in black...they are made of different material, and the black one stretches too much!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
Rachael
Very cute!! Sounds alot like my son!! He wants to be held ALL the time and its hard to get anything do and I have to put him in some type of wrap and carry him with me to get things done. He also is not a napper so once we are up for the day he is up...he only takes power naps of 10 -20 minutes here and there..but at least he sleeps through the night.
ReplyDeleteOh and for the paci's, you might try gumdrop pacifiers (should be able to google them) they are made out the same stuff as the ones from the hospital but not as big, the top is cut out so it doesn't cover their whole face...but sorry they don't come in clear...my son has blue and orange.
Hope you guys are at least starting to get some rest!! He is so beautiful - love hearing your stories and seeing his pictures - thanks for sharing with us!!!!
Oh I just love the video, too bad it cut off! I wish I had thought of doing something like that with my kids, it's so hard now to remember even what they were doing a couple months ago. Great work mommy! Love the cow time too, apparently babies love the black and white shapes. Also, contrary to what anyone tells you, don't ever think you can love your baby too much, as they need to be held and reassured and loved. The world is such a huge and scary place for them, and it doesn't ruin them to hold them all you want. I'm sure you're making sure he gets tummy time and doing all the things he needs to grow into a well rounded little person! Happy 1 month Ty!!
ReplyDeleteRebekah, I *heart* reading you blog. I so get the whole 'unwanted comments' from others telling you the consequences of holding your baby. I waited 10 years for my son (now 6) and I still relish the moments he wants to be really close to us. He his spirited and confident and holds his own with all other children. There has been no harm to him at all.
ReplyDeleteOne thing my mother told me was to pick and choose from the advice that was given me. People mostly mean well, but you are his mother so follow your instinct.
Bless you and you gorgeous little boy;)
You are just too cute! And so is he! I love his hair!
ReplyDeleteHappy 1st month Ty!!! He just gets cuter everyday!!!
ReplyDeleteRebekah,
ReplyDeleteHOLD TY ALL THAT YOU WANT! You can't spoil a newborn!!! He wants to be close to his mommy:) My youngest is 7 and she still wants me to hold her. I relish those times. Enjoy him...they are only little for so long:) Prayers from OHIO! Mollie
I just sold my ultimate baby wrap in my garage sale. I cried like a baby when I sold it. Since Ben was number 3 I used the heck out of it. I even mowed the lawn and raked leaves with him in it. During the winter I would put in the wrap, tuck his feet and then put a coat over us, he stayed toasting warm. I also loved that I could kiss his head and when he started looking around he looked like a little bird. Then when he got bigger I turned him around so he could face out. Finally he got around 29 pounds and my back coulddn't take the wrap anymore....so sad. Thanks for letting me share my wrap stories. I hope your memorys are just as fond. -k
ReplyDeleteSO sweet - he's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! I love the video...great idea. :) I can't believe it's already been a month!! He is growing so fast...I love love love his hair!! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cutie. I've been reading your blog for months and I am so incredibly happy for you. Ty has great parents!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you are doing this, but something I did with all of my kids (and wish I did it more faithfully with the younger two), once a week, we took one or two minutes of video of them. Keep it all on the same tape--use other tapes during the week. Then, on their birthday, Mother's Day, etc. we would go back and watch and you can see how much they change and grow from week to week.
We told my brother-in-law about this and he is still doing it with his twins who are almost 6 and their almost 4 year old. I wish we had kept it up. But it is a great thing to go back and watch and ultimately the kids love to watch them too!
So precious and it is great to see how he has grown since his first picture in the basket. Those are adorable pictures. Enjoy every minute of thes moment. :)
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. You are an excellent Mama...so calm. How much maternity time do you have? Is baby Ty going to daycare or are relatives watching him? Can you do a post about your plans after maternity leave.
ReplyDeleteHappy first month birthday, baby Tyrus. You are so cute and sweet. I love you. Grandma P.
ReplyDeletei want to echo the sentiment that you cannot spoil a newborn. hold him all and day and night if you want to. about the time they can play peek-a-boo is the time "spoiling" can start (their long-term memory skill starts kicking in). so you have a ways to go :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious video. Happy 1 month Ty! :-D
ReplyDeleteRebekah (Ben too),
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!!! He is just so cute!!!
My heart filled with joy when your son was finally born and in his Mom's arms.
I love your video! It is so cute to watch you two together and here all about how your are "holding him way to much" and that you put him in his car seat on the dryer! You are doing great, I was just like you with Kobe, he was my buddy, we were best friends and I just couldn't come up with a very good reason to put him down!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think piston pete is a perfect nick name for ty, suits him :)
I love seeing you as a mama, you were right when you said you were born to be a Mother, it is obvious!
Happy 1 month! Your story is truly beautiful and you have the most wonderful way with telling it!
ReplyDeletehappy 4 weeks Ty! :) how blessed you all are to have found each other ~ treasure each day (as I'm sure you do) they will go faster than you ever imagined! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay seriously how is he already 1 month!!?!?!? He is such a little cutie and I love loved the video!
ReplyDelete:)r.
Hold that baby all you want! I know just how you feel! She is going to be 18 months and I still hold her all the time! I always said God did
ReplyDeletenot give her to me to ignore but love and that's what I intend to do!
Happy one month, Ty! It's amazing to see the changes in him already. I'm so happy for your family, and can't wait to see your journey continue.
ReplyDeleteJust watched the video for the 1st time and love how you still get emotional just talking about your little boy...feeling such gratitude and awe that words cannot describe! Celebrating with you xx
ReplyDeleteGod bless him! :o)
