Day 280

Okay, okay, I surrender! I've been emailed/blogged/Facebook-ed more times than I can count. Here it is:

25 Random Things You May Not Know About Me

If I could drive any car in the world it would be the Lexus RX. I’ve had my eye on it ever since I started working a big girl’s job and I feel that I’ve unknowingly cheated because in the meantime I’ve fallen hard for my Jeep.

I love the quiet...and rarely feel the need to have music playing when I’m in the car.

One of my top five, all-time favorite songs is Killing Me Softly by the Fugees and I have no idea why.

I refuse to wear tampons after my best friend unashamedly had to rip one out of me because it was too full and had gotten "stuck." I discovered two things that day: 1) I am indebted to Laura for testing the bond of our friendship to the max and 2) Being poolside in a bikini is not worth the pain!

I am as girlie as they come but when it comes to sex I am 100% man. I require zero frills or forethought. I like it short and sweet and often. [When Ben gets around to reading this in a few weeks he'll be mortified...but in agreement!]

Talking on the phone is one of my least favorite things to do.

I LOVE making lists. Grocery lists, to-do lists, future project lists, when-there's-nothing-to-do lists...I'm so neurotic about it that sometimes if my list isn't neat enough, I'll tear it up and make a new one. Only clean straight lines are allowed when crossing off items on the list and I will add something completed to the list just so I can cross it off. I have a problem really....

I live for Choo Choo's Chocolate dark chocolate turtles.

I love being with me and soak in the time I get to spend alone.

I could spend 5 hours shopping and come home with one pack of socks for Ben and be completely satisfied.

I hate driving in the rain.

Growing up my favorite numbers were always 3 and 5....but 3 lost it's luster, so now I roll with 5. I try to use it as often as I can.

I am a Notory Public and took my oath very seriously...in a mini jean skirt. My first act in office included notorizing my love for Ben...and my closest girlfriends.

I must keep my toenails well manicured because I have this nail fetish that can't be satisfied. I love to peel back the layers and clean out jam....albeit disgusting, it offers me disturbing amounts of satisfaction.

My alter ego is named "Straight Haired Girl" and Ben enjoys his dates with her.

I don't like potato chips of any kind, but have a maddening addiction to T.G.I.F Potato Skins, Sour Cream & Chive flavor. Their existence taunts me with rarity....but when I do find them, I buy every bag on the shelf. [Dan, I seriously blame you for this one.]

I have never heard the alarm clock in the morning. Ever. A marching band could parade through the room and I would continue to sleep.

I have this bizarre habit of spelling words I like, in my head, when I hear them for the first time...You probably shouldn't play Scrabble with me because of it

I only write with blue pens.

Samuel is my favorite person in the Bible and I love that he chose to sleep in the very presence of God...and that his words never fell from his mouth. I strive to be him.

I wish bees didn't exist. They make me nervous.

I don't know how to french braid and will be in serious trouble when I have a little girl.

One of my favorite summer chores is bleaching the garage floor.

At night, my feet need to hang off the end of the bed or I'll never fall asleep.

I love simplicity and try to use it in every area of my life.
____________________________________________________

There you have it! I tried to think of items that most of you wouldn't know and hopefully, you don't think I'm a complete nut job.

I have been a little lax in the blogging because I've been studying really hard for my GMAT (admission test for Grad school). I'll be back in full swing next week. My next post will be my 100th....and I promise it'll be good!

  1. Hate talking on the phone.

Feet have to hang off the bed. Wore through several sleeping bag zippers as a child camping because my feet need their freedom.

and a bonus random fact about me? I never miss a chance to say "that's what she said" or the slight variation of "you said do do" yes it's 7th grade boyish, we have a lot in common intellectually.

  2. I also: don’t play music in the car, agree with you on the sex thing, hate taking on the phone, have ALL the same list obsessions (to the T- no kidding!!), love being alone, am a notary public, have well trimmed toenails (and fingernails), and let my feet dangle off the end of the bed. The only thing I find disturbing about your post is that you could sleep through anything! I hate it when hubbs that let the alarm clock just buzz and buzz! Ahhhh!!!

  3. I find it so amazing reading these lists...some people I have so much in commen with and others nothing...I can't believe how many of your 25 things I can totally relate too...it is almost funny...
these lists are great...fun to do and fun to read...although I don't want to be "tagged" for a bit!! :)

  4. Rebekah:

Seriously. The too much information line has been so so far passed, I'm red through the computer screen. Oh my Lord...you do know people (many people) are going to read this, right???? lol.

    Love, your little sister.

  5. Whoa. I blushed several times through your list of 25 but I learned a lot about you! :)

  6. A few things:

I always feel "ripped" is too strong a term in describing the event. I think it may have only seemed that way in your distress.

WOW Miss Sharey-over-share. Not only will Ben be mortified, but I have a feeling this post will disappear from your archives. ;)

Bees make me nervous as well. It's impossible to relax and enjoy a picnic when they are around.

And I also hate driving in the rain. ECSPECIALLY at night.

    Love you.

  7. Oh, and also, I have driven the Lexus RX (as well as many other luxury vehicles in my years as a nanny), and there is nothing else on earth like it. Someday I'll have a matching one :)

  8. OMG I am seriously cracking up and am saying..."she did not just put that on her blog did she???"

I am laughing about it though.

And here is a question I am left with... so how do you wake up in the morning?

  9. Geez Rebekah!

I might have to agree with your little sister on this one. Poor thing is so shaken up she couldn't even sign her name!

I hate to break it to you but you can not claim to "not like any kind of chip" and then gush over how much you love TGIF Potato Skins. They are CHIPS. CHIPS. CHIPS! :) I'm just sayin'!

I have never heard of anyone who bleaches their garage floor and actually likes it. You are an enigma!

    But I love ya!

  10. I too love to shop and find great deals....lists run my life...Samuel is my son's name...good choice...

Why do you bleach the garage floor...and how do you do it?

Write a post about how you simplify your life, please. I love this too...and I am constantly working on doing it better...I hate clutter and I am constantly getting rid of things.

  11. ...oh and one more thing...

I too begged and begged for the RX last year while we were car shopping. Jason insisted it was too small & essentially just like having a car...he was right.

I had the RX for one week, and it got returned for the bigger SUV. While it's really quite nice- I know you'd like the GX (the bigger SUV by Lexus) much better. So...when you get that book deal, trust me.

    Love, Your sister.

  12. Loved the list...made me laugh our loud :) Thanks for sharing!

  13. I have to say that I learned one or two new things about my friend today!!! I have to say, although there are those out there that think I have no sense of humor, I laughed out loud reading this post. I have to second Lauras comment, the only thing worse than driving in the rain is driving at night in he rain. I avoid it at all costs.

  14. I am SOOO with you on the lists. Has to be neat and tidy, with perfect penmanship.

  15. I did this list on facebook, but I don't think mine was as interesting as yours!!!

I agree about the Lexus RX and the list thing. I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to my lists being nice and neat. OCD perhaps? Haha!

  16. Hey Rebekah... loved your post. I continue to follow your blog and feel enlightened by your entries. It is amazing what you can learn about a person by reading their heart's desires! I believe that you will be delighted in God's beautiful plan, as soon as it is revealed to you and Ben. I, too, can't wait for God to send my precious baby home! Take care of you! Julie G

  17. I appriciate your honesty. It's really refreshing. I do play Christian music in my vehical at times, but I also like to pray while I'm driving and I can't pray with the radio on. I also like spending time by my self. I wouldn't say I'm a pure introvert, but I do need "inny fixes" now and then. I try to keep Mon. night open to spend alone, except for the company of my cat. I wouldn't say I actually hate talking on the phone, but I'd much rather talk to someone in person. I do actually hate making phone calls, probably because sometimes I really want to talk to someone and I'm disapointed if I get the machine or they are too busy to talk.

When do you take the GMAT'S? I'll be praying for you.

  18. I feel the same way about bees, due to having several rather painful stings.

Wow- Laura IS a true friend, but I'd do the same for a girl in the same situation. By the time you get to be my age you have either figured out how to deal with the situation, or like you, avoid tampons at all cost!!

  19. Wow, I have been reading tons of these lists and yours is THE FUNNIEST :) Ways in which I am like you: hate the phone, love "Killing Me Softly" and like to sing it karaoke style, love lists and frequently re-write them to be neater. Don't worry, there are plenty of books out there to teach you to french braid and your future daughter won't have enough hair at first so you have time to study :) and maybe reading "The Secret Life of Bees" will help you be less nervous about them? It's a great novel and a quick read.
