Day 366

I graduated this weekend! Man, did it take me forever...

It felt really good to walk across the stage...remembering the hard work and sacrifice...I didn't even care that I was in an enormous red-chili pepper gown (I don't do red).
Of course, my biggest cheerleader was there by my side. It really meant a lot to hear how proud he was! It was one of those moments that comes full circle...Ben dropped me off at college, for the first time, when I was 18...and he's been by my side ever since. He made the biggest sacrifice, losing his wife to the books every weekend!

Our best friends, Chris and Meeghan, came to show their love too! Having them there meant more to me than they'll ever know...

Now on to the next phase. I was accepted into Central Michigan University's MBA program and I start, this coming August! It will definitely be crazy as I try to juggle mommy and grad student...but if I want to be home with baby boy more (I do!!) then I have to finish that MBA so I can start teaching at the College.

Speaking of baby boy...only 8 weeks left!!

No real big news. Just cleaning like a mad woman and getting everything ready. I'm going to start packing, this weekend. I keep dreaming that Rebekah goes into labor early and we have nothing packed or ready to go and we're scrambling...it's sheer panic! Since now is the time to soak in the good rest, I'm going to just pack and put my mind at ease.

Rebekah's doctor won't schedule the birth until she's 39 weeks...which I completely understand...but in her last two pregnancies she was induced before she hit that mark. And the inductions were scheduled the day of. It all makes me really sad to think that we won't make it in time (we're 22 hours away). I'm trying to set myself up for it now, so I won't be crushed later. It's completely out of my control (like anything in this process was). I simply have to trust God that he knows best.

That's about it around these parts! My mama heart is bursting to meet my son...and our house has never seen this kind of clean!

  10. Congrats! I am so jealous of your drive for your MBA. I will never have the motivation to go back to school!

I am also incredibly jealous of your clean house. That is the only thing I felt was missing (or not missing- dirt!) when we brought R home. I am STILL trying to catch up!

  11. I've been following your blog for a while and haven't written yet since I don't have a blog myself. I do find that many of the questions and feelings you have expressed about wanting to be a mother are exactly mine. We are in the "desert of waiting to see the fertility clinic" after passing through the "Land of Clomid" with no success. Although it hasn't been even close to a long as the Israelites' wanderings, my heart sometimes feels so. I feel encouraged to read about your journey and appreciate the faith you share so openly. It reminds me to stay strong, dependant upon God, when most days I feel so weak and down on my own.
I am so excited for you! Your little one is almost here!
    Rejoicing with you,
    Ana from Canada

  12. Congratulations!

Graduating from college is a HUGE accomplishment, no matter who you are or how long it took you! I imagine Rebekah feels the same way and is probably very proud of you! I would imagine the dedication to higher education is yet another reason she loves you both and dreams of her son having those same opportunities!

Take time to enjoy such a huge accomplishment! We're all proud of you!

Was thinking about you Sunday...and remembering coming in to Van Antwerp Hall and seeing you and Ben sitting on one of the beds in our humble dorm room...I'll never forget the best year of college! But I'm glad it's done for you and am so proud of your perserverence and drive. Love you!

Yeah, 39 weeks seems like a long time (especially when Amy delivered at 31 weeks...) I guess it doesn't hurt to be prepared for ANYTHING. [grin]
