Day 339

I know a few of you have posted this already, but I couldn't take the chance of some of you missing it. It's too good. I love to hear beautiful adoption stories...it gives me hope for Rebekah and baby boy. Check it out:

He Deserves More - A BirthMother's Story

I also talked to an adoptee, yesterday. Her birth mom and adoptive parents have an open relationship so, naturally, I asked a hundred questions! She's an adult now...and told me her most prized possession is a video from the day her birth mom handed her to her adoptive mom. She said the video is so raw and emotional as both mothers talk to the camera and express their passion for her...every year on her birthday she watches the sacrifice her mother made for her...and the unconditional love she had when she placed her in the arms of another woman.

Isn't that amazing? I'm hoping that maybe we can do something similar. What an incredible way to capture the beauty of two mothers in love.

  4. I didn't watch the video... yet! I have it queued up and waiting. But I already have tears in my eyes.

My niece (my brother got his girlfriend pregnant when they were 16/17) was given up for adoption when she was 6 yrs old, even though her birthmom kept her other, younger children. My aunt ended up adopting my niece as she had never been able to have children.

And my niece is one of the most beautiful people I know! Adopted children, in my opinion, seem like really well-rounded people because their adopted parents just pour EVERYTHING into them.

*HUGS* I think the video after his birth with you and Rebekah would be so beautiful.

  5. We had my Dad video our entrustment ceremony. After nearly 4 years, I have only watched it twice because it is SO emotional. You can actually hear my Dad crying on it! However, we all wanted it on video so one day Mia can see that this was not an easy decision for her birth parents and to know that we all did this for her.

  8. I haven't seen this, thanks for posting!
I wish I could show it to our nephew and his girlfriend...not that they are choosing anything permanant right now but......they may. We're going into this knowing that it could go beyond a temporary situation!

  9. I think that is beautiful, and what a great tribute to that young woman and her own value as a person and a daughter! I also love this video and was very touched by that birth mother's story.

  10. I cried during that whole video! There is no doubt (and I've never doubted) how hard and how much love birth moms have for their children. So much love that they're willing to sacrifice their desires so their child can have a better chance in life. *HUGS*

  14. I think the best thing to remember is... moms who have had a GREAT experience with adopting and people who have had a great experience being adopted don't go on internet crusades to search for and tear down those who are considering the same path. Kind of like, when you havea negative experience with a company, you tell 10 people on average... but a positive one, only 1-2? Have you heard that before?

There are SO MANY people who are happy with this decision on all sides, and I know some of them personally. You and Rebekah have a beautiful relationship, and this baby is going to know how much he is loved by his mothers!!! :)

  17. Thanks for posting the link! What a beautiful story.

Adoption has really come a long way since I was adopted in the 1960's. I'm happy that adoptees and birth parents of today have the option of open adoption.

    Hugs!
