Day 153

Thank you for all the encouragement. I feel better, today. Although two families at our agency that were approved after us, have been linked with b.moms....It's enough to drive me crazy if I think about why we weren't chosen. I'm trying not to!

I've made a mental list of all the things I've wanted to do in life and never took the time. I figure, now is the best time to explore those avenues! At the top of the list, is photography. I've always loved taking pictures and tend to have a creative eye...but lacked the equipment and knowledge to really take my pics to the next level. My sweet Ben bought me a N.ikon D.60 for my birthday and paid for photography classes at a local college.

This morning, Meeghan and I had our first class fieldtrip (she's taking the classes with me!)

We went to an old mill and got lots of practice in! Here's the best of my 166 shots!

I'm really excited to use my new found techniques on baby...but until then, I'll perfect pictures of nature...and Ben! It's proving to be a perfect way to pass the time...

  3. Some good shots here, I like the barrel and the leaf-strewn walkway. Seems we have yet another thing in common as well...photography! Even though I'm in school full time for elementary ed now, photography is my first love. I received my Associates of Applied Science in photography back in 2005, and I'll always have a degree of passion where photography is concerned. I also worked as a lab assistant in the visual arts dept. of my school, so I know lots about the different classes they offer, etc. If you haven't already seen it and you're interested, check out my other blog at http://photomelba.blogspot.com/--lots of my photos are shown there. :)

Good luck with your classes, you should email me at melbatoastlove at gmail.com so we can talk more about this! I'd love to hear how it's going and what assignments you have to do, etc.

  5. Great photos! We bought a D60 as well and absolutely LOVE it! I use the "child mode" quite a bit, but I've been impressed by everything it does.

Keep up the great photography work!

  7. Rebekah...I just saw your comment and I would LOVE to have a photo day with you sometime, what a great idea! One of the things I love most about photography is that there is no limit. I've been immersed in the subject for just about as long as I can remember, and there is still more I could learn. :) It's fun, and very addictive...enjoy your class and keep getting out there to shoot, experience is the very best teacher, hands down! :)

  13. I love the photograph of the corn - the portrait one. Absolutely beautiful colours - so autumnal. And I think you're absolutely right to make the most of this time (I have to admit that I HATE it when people say that to me, but also have to admit that it's true!). I'm glad you're doing something you enjoy, and maybe you'll find it to be another creative expression you can use to work through the emotional ups and downs of this waiting time.

  14. I'm glad you're doing better. I think it is interesting (I was going to say funny, but it isn't funny) how we have our ups and downs. Some days I am completely fine with the wait, others I want to tear my hair out.

I love the photos and I am jealous of the camera. I took a class in college and loved it, but my creativity slips a lot because I just like pictures of people! Have fun passing the time!

BTW- thanks for your last comment- it really made me smile because "stealing her thunder" wouldn't be a bad thing! Hehe!

  22. Wow, you really have some talent! I've often thought about taking a photography class myself, and the funny thing is I've looked into the Nikon D60. If my pictures can look half as good as yours, I'm sold.
