Day 130

I lost my wisdom, today. So if my posts lack their usual luster, you'll know why! I actually feel surprisingly good. I can't feel my face but I'd take that over nausea any day! My Ben has been taking good care of me, as I lay low.

Here's me in bed, smiling the best to my ability. I know, lame, right?

Turns out all four came out without a hitch (roots and all) so I should have minimal pain in the days to come. For some reason the Doc felt the need to give me my teeth, which is slightly disgusting. I took a picture and promptly pitched them. Who wants bloody, decaying teeth lying around?

By the time Ben came to the recovery room to see me I was pretty strung out and heavily medicated. He was allegedly asking me questions about the procedure, etc, [allegedly, because I have no recollection]. He's telling me about all the funny things I said and signed (yeah, as in sign language). I know, right? My best friend, Meeghan had her wisdom teeth out, yesterday, and was signing the word "drugs" to her husband. I must have sub-consciously remembered the story! Although I was signing "sleepy." Meeg might just have a closet drug problem...Chris, if you're reading this, you might want to look into that.

So, then Ben gets to this story...Now I forewarn you, this is not politically correct and Ben would have my head if he knew I was repeating it...but I can't help it, it's what came out! Okay, so I ask Ben, "Am I swollen? Am I turning black from the brusises?" Ben responds with, "No, not yet." I return, "Too bad...if I did, then I would match our son." [insert cracking up....I said that????]

Okay, psycho-analysts, what does that mean? In my sedated state, not only did I reference our black baby (and wanting to look the same), I mentioned "our son." As you can imagine, Ben had a field day with this and now claims we're having a boy!

  1. Okay, I don't think I can be your friend. It's illegal in Mandaworld to still look like a million bucks after having 4 teeth removed. Seriously.

In all seriousness, glad it wasn't so bad. I had mine done at 15. I may have to have the next 4 done, but not sure yet. It gets better pretty fast though. You'll be eating real food in no time!

  2. You are a very pretty patient!! My surgeon didn't give me my teeth! I think they had to break them to get them out.

    Hope you're recovery is swift!!

  4. So glad we could share in the misery. Although I am really happy that it went so easy for you. You have had more than your fair share of poking, prodding, and pain. It's nice that something was easy for once. HUGS!! I am getting pretty sore...off to take more drugs :)

  5. Let me just ask that in the future you warn me of any disgusting teeth pictures, teeth make me ooky.

Just an aside, Search and Rescue training centers will buy teeth so they can train their cadiver dogs. Which is why I can never train cadiver dogs.

Hope you are back on your feet again soon, congrats on the son:) he'll be joining you soon (fingers crossed) but you must get off the drugs.

  6. You're a TROOPER! I made them put me completely under to take mine out. Mainly because they had to split the lower two to get them out because they were growing forward. Then I got dry socket. Dry socket sucks really bad. But don't hesitate to call your doc if you get it, they'll have you come in and they'll pack it with some magical stuff to make the pain go away!

  7. Well, we had swollen faces together! I had a root canal yesterday. Have never dealt with getting 4 very large teeth pulled tho! Yikes!
Hummmmm, as for your comment, could be a premonition???? You never know!

  8. I love your little story, political incorrectness and all. :) Glad the procedure was OK and you are still feeling good. I also received my teeth when they pulled them, but I only had three, weird. The teeth are a little creepy, I agree!

  9. lol, that is funny :)

you look REALLY good! half my face was swollen and half wasn't :)

I didn't get to see my teeth, that doesn't really hurt my feelings though...

  10. Glad to hear that getting your wisdom teeth pulled wasn't so bad. I had mine pulled when I was 21 and I was in the chair for 6 hours! I only had 3 and they couldn't get the 3rd. At that time they had given me codeine and it gave me hallucinations of spiders crawling all over me ( come to find out I am allergic to it). I turned yellow, threw up blood, lost weight. The third one was impacted so they never got it and now 18 years later it is finally poking through, not sure if I can go through with it having it removed.

  12. Ouchie. I got mine out several years ago and remember plopping down in front of rubbishy chick flicks for a couple of days and sucking nonstop on popcicles. They felt so good on the hot swelling.

To echo everyone else: you look fab for just having had 4 teeth out! Hope you get well soon.

  13. So glad this procedure wasn't terrible! I'm sure you'll snap back in no time Condi...er...Bekah!

(Just kidding, I totally think you look like a Caucasian...)

And as far as the whole son thing, I am hoping for "crownS" not just "crowN". Wouldn't it be fun to be a soccer mom with a little boy???

  14. REBEKAH! I'm so sorry, I didn't realize wisdom teeth day was Friday. I would have brought you a pre-surgical present on Thursday. :) It's good to hear things went well, and you do look pretty great! I sure hope you're feeling better today and that I'll see you soon at work!

  15. aren't you supposed to keep them for luck or wisdom or something - not sure - but I think there is a reason behind it!!! love the story!

  17. I'm reading this months later and am intrigued by your prophetic drug induced state. Ty may not be black but he is a "son" and he is dark and lovely!
